The token spill was an odd signal, it's always fun to dig multiple good targets from the same hole. I know two of them are Cracker Jack tokens, but I still need to research the other two.

I have never dug anything Nazi before, so it was exciting to pull this coin up. I wonder how it got to the Canadian prairies...maybe in the pocket of a returning soldier. Oh man, that is some wild stuff there. Neat digs!

nice finds like the coin also..Wish they could talk , bet it has a lot of history as to how it got to Canada Good Hunting

Sweet 50 Reichspfennig! The "A" on the bottom means it was minted in Berlin. Should be worth a few dollars

Wtg JC...I bet you had the old wt_ look when those tokens started coming out.

Nice finds. I'll take a spill like that. Last summer I dug a cache of 24 Shell Oil tokens/game pieces. I will remember the dig and exactly where I found them for the rest of my life.

Wow, I can speak for most on the forum that we like strange and unusual caches! Very cool finds. I agree, the Nazi coin was a veteran bring-back or maybe walked away from a nearby POW camp in your area. Sub 8-)

I found a Nazi WWII coin in North Georgia about 20 years ago. Cleaned it up and put it in a 2x2 holder. A few months later I was looking through my finds and noticed that the details on the Nazi coin looked blurry. Opened the holder and discovered that the coin had turned entirely to dust. I assume the coin was made of zinc.

Strange, I checked on this one and it sounds like 100% aluminum. It doesn't feel like it take much to eat through this coin.

The other tokens look like american tax tokens from the early 30s or so

Congrats on the sweet finds. I got a 10 pfennig a couple of months ago... it's made of zinc and almost unrecognizable without angled light. Yours looks silver to me... and sweet. Congrats!

I've studied Nazi-era coins and their compositions. The 50 Reichspfennig was always made of aluminum. Until 1940 the 1 and 2 Reichspfennigs were made of copper and the 5 and 10 Reichspfennigs were made of brass. Starting in 1940 with the onset of war the 1, 2, 5, and 10 Reichspfennigs were made out of zinc.

The 1 Reichsmark coin was made of nickle and production stopped in 1939. The 2 Reichsmark coin was made of 60% silver. The 5 Reichsmark coin was made out of 90% silver. These coins maintained the same metal content throughout the war.

Good research! The 50 Pfennig has a bit of a bad name here, because they sound good, come out the ground with their silver shine and turn out to be aluminum. They are called "Sondlergedenkmünze" Detectoristmedal, because they turn up everywhere, on roman sites, medieval sites, in the woods... Cool find for Canada though! :occasion14:

Great bunch of finds.
I've dug quite a few coin spills but never even considered a token spill.

Now thats a cool pocket spill!

Steve
