Found this at a site that has had a wide variety of stuff. From new change to 1939 dime, 1944 quarter, 1930 quarter dollar to a king George 17xx. I don’t know if this is anything old. It’s interesting to me. It’s seems to be made of a heavy soft material possibly lead? It’s as large as a newer silver dollar without many markings. Any help on where to start would be great.

I'd say it's possibly the lead portion from a lead-filled bridle rosette.

Hi Marshall, I was wondering if you were back out digging, looks like you are doing great at it!! Making me jealous!! I don't think it is the lead from a rosette since it would have to had the attachment piece holes in it if it were. Kind of big for a poker chip, gonna be hard to get a positive ID of it's intended use.

I agree that most lead/solder portions from bridle rosettes have the remains of the attachment hooks or at least some kind of markings from where they were... but some do not. In fact, some have attachment hooks from the front piece. I tried to find some photos online but I'm not really finding anything. You can see some examples of the lead without markings, but they're not a good enough photos in my opinion. I stand by my original idea that it's part of a bridle rosette... With that said, I could be wrong!
