Found this token on a home site last year,a few months later I was reading the local paper and seen were a 97 year old person with the same last name had pasted away.It was recovered in Illinois and is about the size of a quarter,on the front it says Stiritz's pool & billards, the back has good for a 5 cent drink, Has anyone ever came across one of these or have any info on this token?

Appears to be a Maverick token. There are collectors for tokens of each state...although I do not know the worth of yours...it would be wise to check with more than 1 collector to determine the worth of yours. Kieth

dunn and bradstreet you have to begin with the state and town.
so you had said stiritz and johnson city as well as alton so here's what i found.
nothing for stiritz or alton but this is only one month in one year of business listing. these dunn bradstreets, i believe, were monthly or at least quarterly. it is a book to have for sure. i found it around the early 1980's have used it for reference many times. they are about six inches thick.

anyway back to johnson city. i did find one listing and it was interesting but not exact, the sample room may be a better lead, but here goes.

there was a stiritz hdwe. co. listed in johnson city. it showed they were hdwe, furn, & undtkrs.

so sitirtz was a town, a pool room, a hdwe store, sample room. looks like they were in johnson city, stiritz, and alton.
i believe there is a pool hall or billiard book published. it would be interesting to find more on this---i never heard of a sample room that may have had a bowling alley and therefore maybe a pool/billiard room. really cool token, don't clean it.
