I never thought I'd beat my record of 46 tokens in one hunt, but I did so today....and it wasn't even close! I detected for about 4 hours on some parking strips in an older section of town and found 58. First target was a token so I knew it was going to be an interesting day. I could have dug 30-40 more tokens if I wanted to but I was getting tired! None of them seem to be all that old but they definitely aren't fresh drops either. They ranged from 1" to 4" deep. I found them individually and in clumps. One hole had 14 and another had 5. There was one 3'x3' section that must have had 25 tokens. Even with a small coil it was hard to separate the targets and get a clear pin point on just one. There seems to be 7 different varieties and 3 sizes. Most are the common eagle on one side and "no cash value" on the other. Two were the "heads I win, tails you lose" type. One was for a golf center. I've got them in the tumbler at the moment because some were pretty nasty. Once I get them clean, I'll check them for more varieties. Here's the before photo.

After cleaning, I found an eighth version. It's marked "Wednesday Company" and in my research, it looks like others here have found the same token but I don't see anything definite on what this company did or why they used tokens. The only reference I find with that name is an outfit in Chicago, IL. but I don't know what they do. The golf token is from Mount Asia golf and games which I figure is an arcade token as they have several locations around the country. The rest seem to be fairly common varieties. I'll try to post another photo of them after the cleaning.

why so many tokens in a small area ?

You got me. Even not counting the 3'x3' area, the rest were on several streets over a 3 block section that I hunted. I found another 45 clad coins along with the tokens. Another oddity on this hunt was 5 Zincolns bent over in the shape of a taco. They were not found together so I don't think they were done deliberately by one person. I will get one like that occasionally but 5 in one hunt? Strange.
