token and penny?

Any ideas? The only thing I can find about the token is a few links to a role playing game but nothing on the token itself. Also I have never found a penny this polished before. Is/was there something unusual about this year penny (1974 d) I found it in a beach area a long with several other pennies but it was the only one that is in a polished state.
