Today I was hunting my neighbors freshly plowed field, his home dates from 1760,this is the same place I pulled a 1775 KG III copper from a few weeks back....Today I found a silver thimble,a musket ball and a couple other bullets.I also found some very thin sheets of copper folded, nearly the size of a playing card and about 6 inches down. any idea on the 3 ring bullets possible age or the date around when that style was used? There is also a small 8 stamped into the thimble. thanks

would love to get a silver thimble...i think they're cool. good digs.

Real nice. Love that thimble. Most likely a bunch of other stuff there at a old property like that.

They look like a 22 a 38 semi wadcutter and a 45 cal ball. BTW nice thimble mister. HH

thanks..it's my first silver thimble..not bad for a reletively new detectorist..in my 2 years detecting i have found large cents,a bank of upper canada large cent,a 1794 2 reale piece,1775 king George copper, multiple indian heads,a gold gilt ball uniform button, all within 3 miles of my home...and not one piece of clad or penny. not bad eh?

Your doing better then I am.

The 22 has been around since the 1880s, but hasn't changed much, so it could be from as recent as a few decades ago.

The 38 (?) shows rifling marks but guys like me still cast bullets.

The ball is probably much older; it would help if you'd mic the diameter.

Very nice finds. And I love your coins...
