Today’s the day! -Mel Fisher

Yesterday I gave away a diamond ring to my beautiful digging partner. We’ve been so incredibly blessed by God throughout this entire relationship and are so excited to see how He uses this wonderful marriage to bring glory to His name.

Seven months ago we met at a pro-second ammendment rally, six months ago I realized I wanted to marry her, three months ago she fell in love with me while looking for artifacts, two and a half months ago I bought an engagement ring from a fellow detectorist, and today I asked her to marry me.

The day she fell in love with me, when we were looking for artifacts, she glanced down in my sieve and pulled out an amazing porcelain drawer handle from the early 1800s. I promised her that I would return the favor and steal something from her sieve one day...Yesterday, I took her to my grandparents’ best friends’ house to look for shark teeth in their creek. After about a half hour I walked over to where she was as she was going through her sieve and shouted “oh my gosh!” and pretended to pull something out. I dropped to my knee, and the rest is history.
