Today's Take.....

The most interesting find today was an 1862 British penny. It had a hole drilled into it but....it did make my heart skip a beat because the first split second I saw it I thought I found a Seated Liberty until I realized.....it's copper...and settled down to look at it a little closer lol.

Get your Red book out and look at the similarity of this coin relative to the Seated Liberty. Like I said, right at first it got me.....ha!

Re: Today's Take.....

Unbelievable, as usual!

Is this luck being duplicated by other CRH in LA?

Re: Today's Take.....

Another great box. Congrats. Really like that copper penny.

Have you made arrangements with Kickstart yet about sending a box up here? Since I'm providing a prize to the person you guesses correctly the number silvers in the box, I was wondering. ;)

HH.

This was 2 boxes. KS was going to wait a little longer to see how it goes with his boxes.

why would someone spend that? ???

I don't know. I am not very fond of foreign coins but since it is 1862 I am going to keep this one even with the hole.

I just don't think there are many CRH'ers in this area. I have seen signs from time to time, but not heavy.

As mentioned above, I just don't think there is much competition in my area.....except when Tim comes to town....ha! Actually I am looking forward to his next trip in this area.

Re: Today's Take.....

Gotcha beat LJ. I have a British copper just like yours, 1861. It is a little more worn, and took a while to figure the date out. Never understood why someone would put a big copper like in with halves, but oh well. I think I have found about a half dozen of them, the last one being in my last box, and interestingly enough, a 1962, exactly 100 years after yours!!

Re: Today's Take.....

Thats a neat penny sad theres a whole in it.
Great day for you.
Mine did not come in today :(
Hopefully my boxes will yeild alot tomarrow.

Re: Today's Take.....

Kudos LJ ! Another great haul.

Keep the inspiration (and photos) coming.

Re: Today's Take.....

Maybe its just me or maybe its just the picture, but how can you tell if its an 1862 Penny or an 1862 Half Penny?

They seem to be very similar and I can't read any words in the picture which would indicate which it is.

Re: Today's Take.....

LJ,

You must have the equivalent to Midas' touch, but in silver. Congrats.

Keep up the good hunting.
