Me and the wife got out today to do a little looking finally  Anyway Got cut short cause of storms! :( But did find a nice button that I have not seen before it's a eagle with shield and stars on a anchor :icon_scratch: holding branches in each claw.Any Ideas???? Not got it done cleaning yet as we just got back and these things always take alot of time for me cause of the areas they come from.(salt&sand) stuck to it bad!But I'll keep working on it as it looks to have alot of guilt left!
Take Care,
Pete :hello:

Pete the Colonial,

You found a CW staff officer button. I enjoy seeing your finds and I am glad you had the time to kill and make yourself a timekiller. :laughing9: You will be on the hunt for Colonial soon. When you have the time, sweep with the passion and you will dig the goodies.

Thanks Guy's! It's sad but I'm almost as dumb as the dirt I dig when it comes to these time lines & Finds :laughing7:!
Take Care Guy's!

Yep US staff officers button. The backmark dates it from 1860 to 1875. Quite a few buttons with that backmark are dug in civil war camps.

Hey Pete , You should be pleased with the amount of remaining gilt . I saw that :o Like you say , the rusted iron near it, started to attack the edge of the button , U saved it just in time .. still ,nice condition ! Up here, the oxidation, eats the gilt almost completely off of them. :-\ many more great finds 2 U 8) CMDdawg

Great pictures of a multi component site. Looks like you have spanned some time with those finds. The button cleaned up well. Nice triangular as well

Hey timekiller, your'e welcome and thanks for your confidence. I think you did right by not trying to clean the button anymore. It looks good and anymore cleaning you will probably start losing gilt and detail. I hope you find a lot more good stuff at that site.
