They are sold as training pieces for kids and employee's in retail. Here is a link to buy fake coins and paper. From their description:
Here is the perfect answer for training cashiers, tellers or anyone who handles money in the workplace how to count change or handle money effectively. Also a terrific way to teach children how to count money. The tray is 11 X 19-3/4 inches and the kit comes with 50 each of $100 and $500 bills, 100 each of $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills. Also comes with 100 each Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and 25 each half dollars and Sacagawea dollar coins.

Thanks Snappy....I appreciate the picture. That sure is a different find.....don't come across them every day.

those bills and coins look way to real to be legal.

Kinda what I was thinking. Go to someplace at night, crumple the bill first, hand somebody a hundred where it is kinda dark and they give you change...I dunno..... ???

Found 8 of those "counterfeit" pennies in my last bag of pennies. Even had some variety as there were two different types in there. Found them a few other times as well, but never so many at once.
