Wasn't expecting to find too much today, had a good rain last night but not the washing kind, but it turned out to be a good day and found my first grinding stone or maybe a pestle. The first pic is of a huge heating oil drum that somehow made it's way into the creek years ago, don't know who or how but it's at least 5' in diameter and I have to climb around it on the bank, which is well worth it since I always find pottery on the downstream side of it and where I found the 2 smaller pieces on the right of the pic. This is pic heavy to show all the sides of the grinding stone. My question is do I leave the creek stain or remove it?

Nice finds! I like that grinding stone pretty cool!

I always like to find pottery with designs on it, also interesting stone, I would leave creek stain on it.

Nice finds. I'd definitely leave the creek stain. Part of it's charm.

The last pic shows the use wear on it what a beauty it is. If you take the chance on trying to remove the stain all the use wear marks will be removed as well that is if you can even remove that stain. Might make it look real bad if it doent all come off. I think it looks good as it is myself. Thats a nice addition to your collection.

I saw this post late last night as I was crashing. I think I dreamed about pottery haha. You are the queen of pottery! :icon_queen:
