Today's pickup 08-25-2007

I tried to do a pick up at the bank closest to my house last night before closing time but got there about 2 minutes late. I had been waiting for the bag of dimes and nickels to fill up. Well when I had called, much to my surprise they said they had 1 - $1000 bag of dimes, 2 - $50 bags of pennies and not 1 but 2 - $200 bags of nickels. Apparently somebody brought in a large tub full of coins sometime this week (hoping its not another CRHer).

Well, didn't pick them up last night so I ran in first thing this morning and picked them up. Spent most of the rest my day at Valleyfair (local large amusement park similar to 6 Flags).

After I got home, I decided to try one bag of nickels before I crash.

Pretty good results, average quantity, but better than average quality (hope that continues for the rest).
1 - 1941-S Large S

Re: Today's pickup 08-25-2007

Just finished nickel bag #2

Not quite as good as the first one, but about average. At first I thought it was all someone's rejects as I didn't find a keeper for the first 4-5 handfuls, but then things picked up a bit.

Ended up with
1 - 1938-D
1 - 1942-P War Nickel
46 other pre-1960 Jefferson (1939, 1940(2), 1940-D, 1941(4), 1941-D(2), 1941-S Small S, 1946(2), 1947, 1947-D, 1948, 1949, 1949-D, 1952-D, 1952-S, 1953, 1953-S, 1954, 1954-D(3), 1954-S(2), 1955-D, 1957(2), 1957-D(4), 1958-D(4), 1959, 1959-D(6))

12 Canadian (1962, 1963, 1972, 1975, 1978, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2001-P)

and
what appears to be a blank nickel planchet. From doing the ruler test it appears to be the right weight and it is the proper size.

My son got to keep the 1938-D as he was helping me a bit when it was found and it was 1 of the 3 he still needed for his book. My general rule is he only gets to use them to fill his book(s) when he helps out, which has been sparingly lately.

Re: Today's pickup 08-25-2007

Did the bag of dimes last night, but got too tired to post. Normally I look for a couple of erros, but I was tired so I just did an edge search so I could cash them in today.

Fairly typical results:

5 pre-1965 Roosevelt (1954, 1954-D, 1954-S, 1958-D, 1963-D)

22 Canadian (1969, 1973(2), 1974(2), 1976, 1978, 1979(3), 1981, 1984, 1992(3), 1994, 1998(2), 1999, 2000(2), 2001-P)

2 Foreign (Cayman Islands, 5 Cents (1987), East Caribbean States, 10 Cents (2004))

2 Quarters
1 Nickel
5 pennies

1 button/washer looking thing.

24 Canadian (1940, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1968(2), 1972, 1976, 1978(3), 1982, 1983, 1984(3), 1985(2), 1987(2), 1996, 2001, 2002, 2006)
