hit 2 cellar holes I found on an old topo map today. The first was fairly modern and only found a few things. the other was about 1/2 mile off the road and I found the stuff in the second picture there. there was a solid 6 to 8 inches of snow covering everything and I still got some nice stuff so I will be back in the spring.

some close ups of the spoon real interesting

That spoon is really cool! Nice finds.

what is that iron ring in the second picture? i found two of them at an old church site. i figured they were hitching horses?

The ring is part of a harness. This one is the largest Ive found at about 5 inches. might have been used by oxen? they come in all sizes last week I found the smallest Ive ever found at about 1 1/4 inches. Ive found them in iron brass and rarely silver plated.

great finds. I think That little brass thing in the middle of the ox ring is the top off a oil lamp burner , its where the wick threads though

Six to eight inches of snow??? Uh, now I know you're a "little" obsessed.

Those harness rings always ring up great on the detector, don't they? Something about their shape. The loudest best signal I've ever got was a barrel ring. You would have thought there was a chest full of silver in that spot. I really don't know the reason behind it.

I have found a harmonica reed at every cellarhole I've detected, except one. Can you imagine how annoying it must have been to listen to everybody play their harmonicas all the time? ( I'd be annoying for me.)

Anyway, it was good you got out. The cellarholes look promising. Good luck.

Thats some great stuff there
just imagine what coins lay below
Make sure to go back when there's no snow.

Nice relic finds TimmyNY. The detail on the spoon is awesome.
Looks like an excellent site to hit this spring. Thanks for sharing
