Today's Mezuzah and Scroll Find

I paid $4 for this 14K beauty - attached to a 12K gold filled chain (at a consignment shop). It weighs 5.5g!

I also found three pairs of earrings that I'll need to test when I get home.

Nice find .. Except, I can't see the pics...

You keep finding all the Jewish stuff. And I keep getting crosses and rosaries. LOL.

Great find!!! I hope you get a lot for it.

WHAT! Are they blind??? That's a great piece of good clean gold and all for 4 bucks. You keep hope alive.

Hey, I've made close to $400 recently selling 2 different lots of Catholic items as lots on eBay. I couldn't believe it myself.

I cleaned it up a bit before listing the pics on here, but the patina alone said gold to me...even before I saw the GIANT 14K stamped on the bottom.

I will go further to say, it reminds me of one of my very first gold finds. You replied that u knew it was gold immediately from the holes on the back. You also said that eventually you will get so good that you will see a piece and "just know". This was definitely one of those moments.

I would suggest to test the scroll ( I would start checking with your local Habbad), as damaged Mezuzah scroll is not something you want to keep...

The scroll is encased in gold so I'm not sure how to test the scroll in this case. Recommendations?

There MUST be a way to take the scroll out. You see, scrolls should be checked by "Sofer SeTaM" from time to time, the there should be an easy way to open the casing.

Not all Mezuzah scroll jewelry opens. Sometimes the scrolls are encased in a glass tube. Nice find by the way.

This one appears to be encased (glass or acrylic) then enclosed in gold. Guess they inserted the encased scroll into the gold before sealing it.
