Today's meager colonial finds: UPDATE

Today Cliff and I returned to the colonial homesite in the tobacco field and tried to hunt between rain showers. LOTS of mud. Didn't find much. Found a small flat button (nothing on back), a rivet with some of the leather still in it, a 36 ca. lead shot, and an iron or steel whatsit. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks Sonny.
My wife and I were just looking at it and it appears to be a dog, laying down, facing right on some kind of circle. We can make out the eyes, mouth, and a long hounddog ear hanging down. Any ideas what it might be?
