Today's MASSIVE find!!!!!

So it's been a while since I've posted. I just recently started getting back into CRH. Haven't had much luck on my last few road trips. Normally on my days off, which are swing days (reverse hours the next day) I go out on my road trips tired as hell but determined to find some silver. I called a bank about 80 miles away that said they had some. I was gonna stop there and all the other banks around that area. So I went in and told them I called. The teller got $7.00 worth from another teller, and while they were counting them on the counter I could hear "Caching, caching!" All but two were 40%ers. She then got me $130 in CWR from the vault. Seeing that the loose halves were loaded with silver, I hoped for the same luck with the rolls. Got to the car and slid a roll out onto my hand. "Wait what? I've never found one of those before!" It was a benjamin! 2 rolls contained no silver and the other $110 was loaded with it!

76 x 40%
13 x 64 Ken
9 x Franklin

Silver at $40.35 = about $773 in silver I collected.

That was my total take from that bank, and a neighboring bank that yielded me 3 40%. All the other banks in towns over I called had no halves. One Franklin is in great condition, some of the 64 Kens are too. Some of the 40%ers look like they literally just came from the mint. They look that good! Had to have been someone's collection. My phone camera sucks but I did snap a couple pics. Just goes to show determination pays off! After some skunky road trips, I hit it big! Now I've been up over 24 hours, so it's bedtime. *Dreams about all the silver*

Great finds!!!

just out of curiosity, where do you live that requires you to road trip 80 miles for banks? Or are you just trying to cross over into another district?

regardless thats a GREAT score !!

I just love road tripping it. Not much success with boxes but I sometimes do pretty good on random bank trips. I've hit most banks within at least a 50 mile radius so today I decided to go even further and actually went into another state. What surprises me more than anything is this town is literally a mile within a major highway, so I am shocked no one else had snatched them first, unless the person brought them in not so long ago.

Amazing, im going to be planning a similar trip, I can only hope for similar results.

I hope you strike it big! Question: Would a good condition Franklin fetch more for numismatic purposes or more so for silver content?

Re: Today's MASSIVE find!!!!!

Excellent score. It pays to make those road trips when you can.
Congratulations,

Re: Today's MASSIVE find!!!!!

unless its like a rare date in good condition or maybe a slabbed MS65+ the Ag value is almost always going to trump the numismatic value at todays pricing....i think.

Based on what I know about Numismatics, (which isnt much) is that unless is it an error franklin (bugs bunny iss the only one i can think of) you are looking at just the silver value, especially with where Ag is headed... It is definately different for some of the BU Walking Liberties, but for some reason The Franklins do not fetch as much demand from collectors. That is what I have read anyways.... Or, like Bigheed said, if it is graded and slabbed and scores high like MS64 or higher, then it would for sure have more value than silver, but chances are they dont and to get them graded (just to find out) is like $30 to $50 bucks per coin from what I have heard... Congrats, nice find.

Great score there, one of the better finds I've seen in a while. Gotta love finding solid rolls, especially multiple rolls of em.
