Today's Hunt with GOIO,and tmanfromtexas

Thanks GOIO,and T-Man, for taking me hunting witg you.
We all found some goodies ;D. I dug about 10 pounds of screw caps, and other assorted trash ::)but,what suprized me was how few
clads I dug today with my stragity :icon_jokercolor:. I dug 12 mems,and 2 clad quarters. I had my all time high count for wheaties in 1 day (23) :icon_pirat:, I found a 1948,and 1934? token whatzit. I dug a deep coin spill with 1 wheatie,2 indian heads 1905,&1888,and a no date buff nickle in the same hole :icon_pirat:. I also dug 5 dimes, 46 p & 56 d rosies,a 1920p,and 36d mercs,and a 1914s barber dime. :icon_jokercolor:
I TRIED, but just could not come up with a silver quarter,or half like tman and goio :icon_scratch:.Hope to do this again soon.
CONGRATS ON YOUR 200th Greg

Re: Today's Hunt with GOIO,and tmanfromtexas

Congrats on a sweet haul Dave! That's a lot of loot for one hunt. All of those silvers look great! Did you shine them up? I think if they are not key dates, they do look nice to shine them up a little bit. I'm not sure if I'm going to put all of my coins in protective sleeves also... I really like holding the actual coin and not some piece of cardboard.

HH!

Re: Today's Hunt with GOIO,and tmanfromtexas

Awesome range of dates there! You guys are at one excellent site.

Re: Today's Hunt with GOIO,and tmanfromtexas

You did well Dave. Sorry we had to blindfold you AND make you drive to the site. Site security is very important LMAO. I am glad you have got the hang of the awesome etrac. We ended up with 14 silvers today and almost 70 wheaties for the day plus the indians and the buff. Now if I could just put my coil over a few more silver dimes and quarters maybe I can catch up with you and GOIO. LOL. TMAN...

A coin shop owner told me it is ok to clean a coin with soap and water, even baking soda ,and water as long as you don't scrub it tooooo long.It will not scratch it.I clean my wheaties that way too if they are not REAL dirty. If they are real dirty,I use non abrasive handcleaner. If they are less common.I use the hydrogen peroxide trick, then,a Q-Tip,and alcohol......Common silver ,I always (if not the key date) clean with baking soda .If they were rare or key dates.I would send them off to a grading service ,have them professionally conserved, graded and slabbed.
A couple years back,I found a wheatie that was pretty dirty,I could not read even a partial date.So I cleaned and scrubbed it with baking soda, and found the date to be a vg 1922 plain cent.I took it to a coin dealer, and he said it was original (not altered) and ,I had not damage by cleaning, but a grading service might not grade it cause it was environmentally damaged (slightly pitted from reaction to ground minerals---AND --it had a slight scratch on the reverse rim---NOT-ME ! ) He also lowball offered 'I think it was $17 or $27,and I STILL have it.But I have been reluctant to send it off to have it Graded/Slabbed.
It is in a cardboard holder on my desk.

Dave I checked that price and graded at the lowest grade which is a G-4 its worth 750.00. IF it grades at F12 its 1500.00 and at vf20 its worth 1750.00. If I was you I would go see that coin dealer and whip his ass but thats just me. lol. You may want to send it in get it verified and then if you ever want to sell it you can. Here is the website. Maybe we can get Greg out at least one more time.Man ,he really looked tired yesterday (probably all that digging he had been doing for every day over a month). Maybe if he takes the week of from detecting, and spends some quality time with the wife. She might let him go for a while this weekend.
Every time I looked over at him,he was bent down digging another screw-cap LOL,but he bested us AGAIN......LOL..........That's OK,I have learned allot about the SE/& Etrac from him,AND you....Check carefully, and dig ALLOT.

Man, it was some tough hunting yesterday! it was not the bending down that got me tired, it was carrying my trash bag full of iron! :tard:
