Thank You! After searching I found this info on it. "The .30-40 Krag replaced the .45-70 Government cartridge for the U.S. military in 1894 and used smokeless powder. It is also known as the .30 Army, .30 U.S., or .30 Gov't. It was shot from the Krag rifle by the military. It would be replaced by the .30-30 in 1903. 30-40 Krag might fit into the engagement with the Indians in the late 1800s as it was used by the U.S. government"Hey Beeps!! It appears to be a Winchester Repeating Arms Company 30 caliber U.S. Gov't shell casing! Looks like an old 30-40 Craig rifle casing!! Hope I'm close!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!
