The field that always gives, spit out a pipe bowl? And a broken base drill.
Cleaned up pics. Of the bowl later. s.e.Minnesota surface finds. Is that a pipe? From those pics I thought it was a bottle Bannerstone. Great find

I agree with GS. It more closely resembles a banner stone. Congrats on your nice finds UN...

More cleaned up pics. Of the piece.
I believe it to be made of catlinite.
I found this on a mainly woodland- Mississippian site.
I did find 2mid - late archaic raddatz points in this field
And dozens of madisons. 231099A3-6B6C-4EC8-9474-2E9C7DFEE847.jpegED1D1FCF-EF86-40B0-87BB-DBD1A84AABE6.jpeg3B92CE52-511D-4C86-B645-79198A806DA1.jpeg5DE1FC83-89C9-44D5-B16E-E6F0557892B9.jpeg8374E50E-3566-43D7-B18F-A38CB947D302.jpeg4769C3E8-29B0-4278-A28C-967C95597967.jpeg

Now that's a coincidence. Same stone btw. Yes that's a bowl.

That's a weed smoking hippies bowl.....LMFAO

Yours doesnt have the rings. That's because perhaps theres no stem
Also missing the scuff Mark's.

Now I bet you found that in a spot where you find points and know its prob native. That's the same thing with peice from yesterday.

You have an amazing spot there. Insane drill type points ect. Luckyman

Nice finds.

It does look like the bowl of a pipe tomahawk which was broken off. If this would be metal then that would lean more towards the broken pipe.

If its stone then more likely its a bottle banner like others had mentioned.

it looks more like a stone bannerstone to me.

Well Done I’m confident there’s more to come congratulations stay safe out there

You are having some kick butt spring artifact hunts. I would like you to find the missing notch off that drill. That is a unique break too.
Have great day.

Thanks all for the responses... I’m a little surprised to find out I may have a banner stone.I’m really not sure on what it actually is. It’s very hard to get pics. Of the inside of the hole. It shows no “rifeling” and is rather smooth. It also shows no evidence of soot, the hole is different sizes on both ends. The parimeter around the larger hole is nearly a perfect circle. The perimeter around the smaller hole is more oval shaped. Maybe I can capture better pics later.

This rose quartz example is smaller at one end. Yours looks between these two in design. I could be wrong though.

Note the white one is round on the big end and more oval on the smaller end.

I voted banner, banner stone. They are not found in my area. I think the pics of them sure help. As you show it and can compare it to others, in hand, it will become more obvious.
Your reaching the epic level on my scale.

As always, thanks for your input, Fat.

Great pics. You can see the drill marks where it was Reed drilled. Then it was severely worn. Probably from a leather strap but possibly from an atlatl shaft . Rare find in any condition. My banner is by far the favorite item in my collection.
