Congrats on the nice large cent! :icon_thumleft:

Nice hunt, nice copper and ornate button, not sure on the flats, congrats on all

Welcome to Tnet from upstate NY

Nice finds. Congrats!

Hey, ROB....Good Job, Nephew -- and NICE 1849 Large Cent, I bet it gave a good strong signal if it was not too deep, and I don't know buttons but like the design on the one you found -- I am glad you were able to get out. I just got back from hunting a school an hour ago and I will post my finds later. GOOD LUCK & Happy Hunting.

Mystery flat pieces

Solved! Thanks to a co- worker and fellow detector and his contacts , the consensus is these are side plates to flintlock rifles !!!

Congratulations! Go back, there may be more gun parts

Congrats on the nice finds!

Nice finds. Definitely side plates for rifles, either flintlock or percussion. You found them a 1/4 mile apart. Are they related to the same site?

Definitely, on the same farm property. Just weird because there was never a house in this area, but did find charred wood in the holes and the site was at the bottom of a wide creek bottom . The identified side plate was in the same hole as the 1849 coin. Will be going back soon.
