Today's finds
Got out with my friend Sanddigger for a bit today and we hit one old and one new site over in her neck of the woods. At the first stop my partner won the prize for both the best button and best coin, but I'll let her post that herself. That best button was almost not to be as it was dug, then lost only to be "re-recovered" later. I'll let her tell you that wild story. At the new site we had gotten permission for through a farmer friend of ours we only had about 45 min or so to hit it before we figured the hunters would be coming in for the late afternoon. This site was known to be active during the CW, and had probably been hunted hard over the years, but thought we'd give it a shot. I quickly got into a mini-hotspot a short distance from where we parked and pulled out 4 bullets with 3 of them being quite deep (10-12"). I also dug a very nice gilted general service eagle cuff button. It's not too often you see the GS buttons with gilt so I was pleased with that find. I only hunted in that one small area so that was a great sign for future visits to this site. However, we've decided to hold off going back until early Jan as a show of courtesy to the local hunters, as well as for our own safety. Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend.
