Went out detecting at an old cabin in Person County N.C. this morning. This my second hunt at this spot.First hunt produced a 1829 LC and a 1872 shield nickel. This place is really overgrown with briers and vines and is really hard to hunt. Today I searched along the side of the trail leading up to the cabin. After about ten minutes I got a good signal at 6.5 inches and pulled out the powder flask it is stamped brass with images of a rabbit and pheasants on both sides, rechecked the hole and got another signal which turned out to be the block I . It is a 1 Piece with no backmark. I believe its made out of pewter as it doesnt have any corrosion on it. After that it was about thirty minutes before I got another signal which turned out to be the N.C. button. It is a 1 piece flat button, cuff or hat size with no back mark.It has NorthCarolina around the edge with 8 stars and the NC seal inside a circle in the middle. Sorry I dont have any pics, unfortunately I cant afford a camera right now ,been out of work for awhile ,but if any of you button experts could tell me more about the buttons, especially The NC button I would appreciate it I have not seen any piece buttons like it on the web sites I have checked. Last but not least if anybody in my area, north central piedmont would like to get together for some hunting drop me a line . HH everybody!
