Hey everyone. Well, I decided to try out a new site today. The property has several huge old houses and buildings going back to the mid 1800's. Managed some nice finds.
Hit a beautiful 1918 Quarter...my first pre 1950's quarter!

Also managed yet another 1859 large cent...I swear there must have really been 100 million of these minted. The 50% of my large cents are 1859.

Also picked up this old bank token. It's pretty rough, and perhaps was in a fire??? Can't find a date...all I can see is "Un Sous" and a wreath, with "Montreal" on it. We'll see what an olive oil bath does for it.

Also dug up this huge bell which is broken sadly.

A nice old gold coloured button.

An old cufflink with an interesting pattern on it.

Some sort of cap/lid which I was going to toss until I noticed the lettering on it. Looks like a "P" "E" and perhaps a "C" and "Co. Who knows. Does this mean anything to anyone??

Also picked up about 25 annoying pennies.

Thanks for looking....Wess

Good job Wes!
Hopefully you can make out more on that Montreal bank token, since there was well over 20 different varieties of the "un sous"(1834 to 1837). Here in Manitoba, the odd Bank of Upper Canada token pops out of the ground, but I never found one of yours.
Dave.

Thanks guys! I am currently giving the bank token a bath in extra virgin oil...which works very well for me. I've had some great results on cleaning really corroded coins this way. Half of the junk has come off of it already after only one day of soaking. I'll post a pic of it when it's done if anyone is interested in seeing the finished product. Sadly I don't have the new 2005 Canadian Token guide :( Christmas though! :D

What I meant by "annoying pennies" is exactly that *hah* I like the old stuff. Any canadian small cents post 1940 do not interest me much...and same with the wheat pennies. I find them more of an annoyance than anything. They're everywhere...and they are time consuming to dig. Have to dig them all though even if only a couple inches deep. I've dug up coins as old as 1859 only 2" deep in undisturbed soil. I've also dug pennies only 20 years old at over 7"!

Wess

I sure wish I could dig a large cent, here in Alabama a IH is a lucky find.A large cent would make the newspaper. All I can say is Wear that site out and good luck!
