today's finds... silver, wheat, token, knife, etc
Shawn (a buddy from the coinhunting.net forums) headed this way today to do some park hunting with me. We started out at about 8:30 (well I did, Shawn was there earlier, haha) out at our first park for the day. I found a token about the size of a nickel with a star shaped cutout in the center at about 5" or so. On one side it reads: "Good for one 5 Cent Cigar" and the other side reads "Hawkins & Curtis 503 S. Walnut St. Muncie, IND." I thought it was a cool find. Then I found a pair of Monopoly game pieces, a shoe and the wheelbarrow. I also found several plastic houses buried in the hole with them, haha. Then I did some more random wandering around and got some clad and then a little bullet of some sort. I have tried to research the token but haven't found anything about it yet.
Then we went to McDonalds where I found 4 nice treasures in the shape of McChickens, haha. After the meal we drove down the road to McCulloch Park and started out on the sled hill where I have had some recent luck. My first hit of the day turned out be a 1924 Mercury Dime. I found some more clad, and then happened across a very nice Case Tested XX Russlock Knife that says Limited Edition 1 of 3000 on the side of it. It has a nice purple bone finish to it. My second nice knife on that hill this year. I then found some more clad and got a 1919 wheat penny at about 9" or so that was a very iffy signal.
All in all, I had fun. Shawn got several wheats, a 1927 mercury, a silver ring, and a dirty ring of some sort that we didn't id while we were there.
