hello, got out for a couple hours today before the storms hit. Didn't go anywhere, just decided to try my luck yet again in the yard here at the house I rent. Over the past 8 months I have pulled about 35 wheaties out of the yard, but not one piece of silver, which I thought was very odd. The house that I rent is about 25-30 years old but my neighbor, who is an older woman told me that there was a house here before this one....they sure did lose a lot of pennies.

Although the hunt was short, I came out with some good finds. Got two wheaties, a 1916S with the most beautiful jade patina that I have ever seen (the pic doesn't do it any justice) and a 1912...cant see if there is a mint mark on the '12 or not, need to let it soak some more. Also dug up this potmetal coat of arms with a chinese looking dragon on it...looks to be a piece of costume jewelry and an old bone handle Roundtree pocket knife too, badly rusted though.

All in all not a bad day at home for just a couple hours hunt. Thanks for looking and HH!!

cool finds, I'm glad you got out. its been storming and raining here off and on for the last three or four days but this after noon was clear and nice but got kids to take care of :) i love the 1916-s

Not yo bad for your own yard. Ask your neighbor if she remembers where the clothes line was. I often pick up a coin or two there.

I saw where the clothesline was, detected under it and found a few wheaties and a pair of junk earrings, but that has been a few months ago....my yard is pretty small, I can't believe that I found what I did today as I have covered the yard several times over....just shows how hard it is for somewhere to be hunted out

just wish I could take a pic to do the '16S some justice, it is a little worn, but isn't pitted like most I dig and the color is amazing....I tried taking a picture and scanning, but neither make it look as good as it really is

thx for the replies

Wow, great finds, keep the pictures and finds coming.

You said you couldn't believe you found so much in so
little of ground. You just never know what you will find.

I found a Silver Dollar beside a town hall in a grass strip
about 5 foot by 3 foot area. It is 1 of only 2 that I have
found and both of them came from my small town in OHio.

Keep digging, you never know what will come up next.
