Today's finds by 99Brown

Unseasonably mild here in central Illinois the last couple days. It has been a long time that I can remember metal detecting in late December/early January.

Hit an old home site which is now a field. A little muddy but did come up with 2 old wheaties (Can't see the dates yet) and 4 Indians (all soaking in olive oil now). The Indians were 1894, 1888, 1898, and 1903. Nothing like Dekalb's purse find!
I should have pictures later.

Also found the sterling heart and a porcelain rabbit. The rabbit is a whistle and while I was digging a can top, it popped out. Any ideas on it? I will post in the what's it also.

I love the rabbit! It reminds me of a plastic canary whistle I had when I was young. Maybe a Girl Guides giveaway from back in the day? Before the cheep plastic ones came out? Just a thought. Good luck IDing it.

No reason to post the rabbit in "What Is It".
It's a whistle for calling rabbits. :P

That rabbit whistle is so cool!! Those non-metallic finds we get every now and then when digging a target are extra special. You would never know they were there!

Maybe it is a whistle for hunting dogs?

Nice little haul....I think it's a whistle for hunting too. Years ago when I went hunting a friend had one that was pheasant...
