Today's Finds at the vintage thrift shop

I didn't buy any of this yet, bc for what they were asking, I wanted some research first. There was dust on a lot of it, they don't exactly organize their stuff very well so I'm not concerned about others getting it before me lol...any info y'all can provide as to value or era (etc) would be great. Sorry for the blurry pics, I kinda think you can get enough to still tell me a good bit.

#1 - First up is this long bayonet they wanted $85 for

#2 - Next is this neat-colored bottle that I thought might be black glass that they wanted $8-$12 for; they also had green and brown ones exactly like this one

#3 - After that is this olive green liquor bottle I think they priced at $8

#4-5 - Then I saw these 2 old bottles with their original labels, I forget the asking price

#6 - And last was this shelf of tobacco tins

My usual tactic is to take them the stuff I can't sell on eBay, which they then buy (they're not very technologically inclined) and then I walk the shop looking for stuff like this that I can re-sell on eBay :D it's got potential to be a very lucrative scheme that I've tried telling them they should do themselves (sell on eBay) but they look at me with glazed eyes and brush me off. Their loss, my gain, I guess.

You should not feel bad buying their stuff to sell on e bay. You brought it to their attention and they gave you the what are you talking about look. I would not call it a scheme, just business. You sell to and buy from them. I am sure they mark up the stuff they buy from you. They are doing the same thing just to a different market. Go for it and good luck.

Yeah, I don't feel bad after the blank stare. But again, I'm not buying anything I don't know about without a little info. Can anyone tell me if this stuff is real/repro and what I could expect to get for it?

Hello cti4sw,

They seem to have rather high retail prices on the bottles. Here's a teal hock wine that recently sold on ebay: Hock Wine 1880 1890 Dark Teal

That liquor bottle looks British TOC, difficult to sell, maybe a dollar or two. The Upjohn Rhubarb & Soda has a "One Gallon" label, but does not appear to be a gallon bottle, also mid-century; pass on those.

a French bayonete in that condition is worth around 50 bucks...if that...thousands of those bayonetes are on the market...in pristine condition...
some of the bayonete do have inscriptions from whatever unit citation was awarded...so those may be worth a bit more...but...
save your money is my opinion

Thanks so much! Appreciate it!

Donald (secretcanyon) is right on about the bayonet. French Model 1866 Chassepot bayonet manufactured between 1866 and 1874.
The manufacturer/arsenal and date made would be marked in script writing along the upper edge of the blade (the spine).
Used during the Franco-Prussian War and up through WWI. Very common bayonet, many on Ebay. In nice condition with the scabbard the average is $65-$85. This one, in rough condition and no scabbard, you wold have trouble getting $50.00 for it. As Donald said, pass on that one.
FYI - this particular one was captured by the Germans and reissued as a second line weapon in WWI. Note the marking on the crossguard: 116. L. I. (116th Landwhere Infantry (reserve infantry))
