Now that's a button I haven't seen before!

The style of the oval on the front looks 1820s, but it appears to be a 2-piece button which might make that date less likely.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing like it in any of my books, but I'll do some checking for you.

I agree with BB on the oval, but the shank looks late 1800 into the 1900's. Great find, never seen one like that before.
