Today's Find - Medallion/Medal?

Nana and I went to the park today. Found a bunch of junk and this medallion, medal thingy.
It appears to have been painted gold at one time. None of the gold came off during cleaning. There are no makers marks, writing, etc. It was about 6 inches deep.
The front has a crown on top of what looks like a lamp shade for a head eagle.
The back has a lot of things going on. Looks like a monkey on the left, swords in the form of a cross at the top, two headed looking eagle in the middle. The small crest on the eagle's chest has a terrier looking dog!
Even though we didn't find much we had a great time!

Because of the crown and the double headed eagle it almost looks like it could be Austria-Hungarian Empire. Cool find .

Hey! That cleaned up great!

Poor, poor Bug, she had this guy and his son following her around the park alllll day long! He really was nice and was very curious about detecting, but she couldn't move an inch without him! (I stayed on the other side of the park) Leese, I bet he's got him a brand new handy dandy metal detector bout right now and tellin all his friends and family bout how you inspired him to try this new hobby!

Looks like it may have had a military or other ribbon attached at the eye hole....just a guess.

Lonewolfe - My Mom had a GrandPrix with one of those! Memories.

Nana - If it had been left up to the son they would have taken my detector on the spot!

Civil - I'm getting references on the different things on it, but can't place it with one organization, etc.
I don't know about the internal thread thing but maybe this picture will answer your question.

jscorpio & Night Stalker - Military was my fist thought. Have looked at all the medals given by the US military. Didn't find a match though. Am researching other countries now. Thanks!
