A short "coins wanted" netted this deal today.
U.S. clad proof sets, 1994 -1997. (four sets)
1993 Bill of Rights commem. silver half/James Madison presidential medal set.
One 1923 s peace dollar.

$30! <<<< ;D

I didn't need to do anything, guys reply to my ad had the price set. Only question I
asked was "is this yours to sell" (yes). He drove up in a three year old diesel pick-up
that is well taken care of. (I will not buy coins if I feel something is shady)

No small talk this time around, been a long time since I got a really good deal and did
not want to jinx it.

May need to run that ad more often.

Nice score! Also saved gas since he came to you.
Any other luck with ads?

I was just working on a write-up for an ad for coins to put in my town paper. Bit pissed because it's a $10 charge per week and who knows if anyone will call. The $10 is for 25 words, so I may expand it by adding jewelry and coin rolls (my kids like searching them).

Again, nice score.

I'm getting lazy, I have most sellers knock on my door (in the winter months anyways). I have ran the same basic ad on/off for almost a year, had one other hit last spring, a younger gal selling two silver rounds but she wanted $40 a pop , somebody she knows knew a guy who knew a dude who knew a dealer who claimed they were something they were not and she thought I would be getting the deal of a lifetime.

This was the first good coin deal via CL for me. These will be added to my little guys treasure-chest. Surprised he contacted me as several dealers are running their ads in several locations throughout our cities site. Wish I was more knowledgeable about jewelry as it seems there are a few good deals to be had there but I simply don't trust in myself enough on that subject to take the plunge.

I may try my luck with jewelry at a local thrift store, they are selling one gallon size zip-lock bags of costume jewelery for $14, twisting/turning those bags in the hopes of a better look at the potential gold necklaces intrigues me, almost to the point of purchase.
(they are all taped closed)

Perhaps this weekend I'll pick one up for sheetz-n-giggles. :coffee2:

Thanks. I do see lots of people here doing the CL thing looking for coins. Some guys even offering 17.5X face all pre 65 silver. Seems hardly worth it unless there's some key coins of earlier ones.
Two weeks ago I hit an Estate sale late (10a.m.). There, sitting right on the pay table was a lot of foreign coins (50 or so), I managed a $2 offer. Turned out to be a decent find when I went through them. I have the silver ones on FeeB now, up to $25 so far. I'm keeping the 1866 2 Cent and 1840 Large Cent that were mixed in with the "none of us know anything about these coins lot, we just want to get rid of them"

I too saw those jewelry containers (bags). Though about trying it also. Give me something to do over the winter than just selling crap on FeeB. Gonna stay away from the "Goodwill Store" ones though. Let us know how you do.

"Wish I was more knowledgeable" I think if you get it cheap enough (jewelry), you can always resell it like Bill recommended.

If you sell cheap jewelry it always seems to sell at the fleamarket . For the most part the ladies want cheap good looking jewelry .

I used craigslist to advertise that I pay Good many for any kind of gold...And since then Ive been making 1 grand a week now.. soley on repeat customers.

My mother and sister always buy junk necklaces from Garage sales, flea mkts., goodwill, etc, etc. They buy them to take apart for the beads, for their crafty things.....NGE

$14 per gallon is better than I can find. I have one "jewelry lady" that sells me boxes of jewelry for $20. The very first box had two 18K UNMARKED bangles that netted me $900.

I think I ended up giving her 25%, $20 at a time, looking for another score like that. I rarely break even, but even one overlooked gold charm or 1/2 oz silver will break you even.

Be careful having people come to your home where you buy things there are people out there that look for places to score a nice little treasure trove via home invasion. Sure your area never saw such a thing but guess what there is a thing called grand theft auto and they steal cars leave the area they live in and go elsewhere to commit crimes. Please be very careful letting people know where you live?

I do CL all the time with pretty good success. I always meet at a public place like rest stop off a major highway. NEVER ever have someone come to your house.

Few months back, a guy met a purchaser in a Mcy D's parking lot (in a city south of us) and was promptly robbed. I take about the same precautions on a CL sale as I do when the wife has her garage sales, only real difference being that I can sufficiently screen any individual prior to them entering my home. I'm not going to stop buying/selling because of something I've read in the paper, if everybody did that there would no longer be any garage/yard sales , flea markets etc. :coffee2:
