Only snapped Quick Pics while Going By,
avoided getting the Amish in their Sunday Best,
Didn't want them to Chase me down & Do a Children of the Corn Number on me For Photographing Them.
18 years ago, I went to Amish country in Ohio on a job to help pick up furniture and other products. We went to a buyer's event where I picked out and ordered my kitchen table and chairs. It is quite a different world for sure. I had the opportunity to visit the heritage center and learn the history and a little about the different sects and the Mennonites and so much more. I found it quite interesting.
Great pic's. When I think about the Amish, I think about the actor Harrison Ford in the movie "Witness" when he was hiding among the Amish from the bad guys. They went into town and he broke the punks nose for harassing the Amish. The one young Amish man replies to the punk with the broke nose and to his friends who were amazed that he was assaulted by one of the Amish: "He's my cousin......he's from Ohio". Lol great movie.
I never saw it.
only movies I ever saw with Amish that I remember....
Kingpin (1996)
Sex Drive (2008)
Kingpin was Probably a Little more Realistic. at least with some Amish.
Sex Drive.... No the Amish are Not that Generous, unless your Amish too.
The Amish are more likely to brag to each other
about how they made money Getting over on the "English"
the TV Show "Amish Mafia" was probably the most realistic.
Though obviously Heavily Scripted & packed with Mennonites and Fake Amish
in order to get them in Front of the Camera, The Actions otherwise are Probably pretty Accurate. allot of inbreeding, and molestation. because there isn't enough Amish to go around.
When I think of Amish I think of avoiding their buggies on the roads
on the days they are out in force, in the areas I detect most.
There are times I pass as Many as 20 Buggies in a 8 Mile stretch.
Usually when there is a Community Yard Sale, Estate Auction,Friday Farmers Market Or Sunday Church Services they all come out
and of course one particular Amish Buggy on a Sunday, with a young Girl Driving.
She had her Dress Hiked above her knee, no stocking that could be seen,
her leg was Propped outside the door, as she drove by the Fair grounds.
My first thought was Amish Floozy & Wished I had my camera in my Hand
I don't believe I've seen the movie. Anyway, in Missouri we ran into some Amish at the gas station, they had a table set up selling desserts. Of course we bought some cookies and a banana nut bread. Years ago, we had a tour of a farm (raising exotic fowl) this was with the "Guinea Fowl Breeders Association". We had lunch in the house, all cooked by the ladies. It was an experience I will forever cherish. No photos were allowed of course.
