Today's 2 boxes...a first and a question

I seem to have found a trend here. One box will be a skunk and the other will have a couple of keepers. At least a few of the keepers have been 90%ers the past couple of weeks. I REALLY thought box 1 was going to be that long overdue good box as there was a 90%er in the first roll. Unfortunately 90%er #2 didn't show up until the last roll, and there wasn't a lot in between. Still, a 2 keeper per box average is a bit higher than my overall average, and the 90%ers are always nice.

BOX 1: 2 40% and 2 90% (both Kens)
BOX 2: SKUNK

Box 1 also contained my first gold-plated(?), or at least gold colored half - a 2008D. What exactly is this thing? Is it some novelty collector coin off the Home Shopping Network or did someone with too much time on his hands make this thing? I assume its not real gold. Is there any reason to keep it?

Any score is a good score. Everyone finds those gold plated Kennedy's eventually. They are worthless unless you get a 64. I don't recall finding a gold plated 40%, but I imagine that they are out there as well. Some are homade jobs and some were sold as novelty items.

Gold plated, chrome plated, anodized, etc.....if it's metal it can be plated. Unless it's 1970 or older, throw it back, or give it to the kids! ffd

Question: the 90%'s you are speaking of are only the 1964 Kens? Or is that also the Bens and Walking Libs?

sorry still very new to this

Not completely sure what you are asking. The 90%ers I found today were both 1964 Kennedys. If you are asking if Bens and Walkers are also 90% silver, yes they are.

Re: Today's 2 boxes...a first and a question

I have scored some mint rolls of NIFCs from the past couple of years and the end coins toned a gold color somehow. I tore open the rolls (I had decided to just dump them) and sure enough all the inside coins were fine, but the end coins looked golden in color.

Maybe that is what you are seeing?

I don't think so. This thing is as gold as a new Presidential dollar.
