I traveled to south Georgia and hit up a bunch of banks today. I didn't expect to get much because I got the impression from many of the tellers that they knew what to look for in halves. One of the tellers said that half dollar coin roll hunting is best around Christmas time because people need the money. I bought over $570 in halves and found:
13 - 40% silver kennedys
6 - 1964 kennedys (one of these looked uncirculated)
1963 Franklin
1942 Walker
1945 Walker
No Date Walker
1985 S Kennedy clad proof
1990 S Kennedy clad proof

Nice job RD. Three Walkers is an excellent haul. Congrats. Was that one bank or a few different ones?

You know, I have heard the same thing about the holidays. One teller once told me summer vacations and holidays......must be something to it.

Again....nice....keep em coming.

I probably stopped at 12+ banks in six towns. I hate getting lost. hehe ???

Wow....sounds like you were on a mission! But that is the way to do it....hit every bank & get every half they will get rid of.

Congrats on the silver. Of course you are welcome
to visit GA. anytime( as long as you stay south of Macon) Ya'll
come back now...ya heyah! 8)

kickstart, whereabouts do you hunt in Georgia? I live in Georgia and went on a little road trip today and yesterday. By communicating we can avoid hunting the same banks.

Hey ringding, congrats on the south Ga. cache of halves! I believe kickstart hunts the northwest side of Atlanta (Cobb co. area), and I live in Gwinnett and have hunted most everything north and east of me over the last few years. The problem is that there are bunches of people out there that do this that never tell anyone, or get post online. What part of Ga. are you in? Plenty of banks to go around! Good luck to ya.

Like Gpurs said I'm mainly in Cobb County just NW of Atlanta.
I also check Paulding and Douglas County as well.

Gpurs I'm gonna head north to Bartow and west to Haralson,
Polk and Carroll counties. If I get desperate I might even try

the Alabama/ga. state-line area.

Has anyone tried Ful/Dekalb counties in Atlanta city limits?

Hey kickstart, I have not gotten into the city yet. To be honest with you, there are so many banks in Gwinnett co. that I have'nt hit, that it would probably take me the rest of the year to get to all of them(at my pace of hunting one day a week). I grew up in Dekalb, but unless I have a specific reason to be there, I may not mess around to much down there. Good luck in your expanding hunt zone. It's tough being an addict!!! Gpurs..
