Lee Harvey Oswald, using the name of "A. Hidell", mailed a money order in the amount of $21.45 to Klein's Sporting Goods of Chicago, along with a coupon clipped from the February 1963 issue of American Rifleman magazine, to purchase a rifle that would be used eight months later to kill President John F. Kennedy

Ahhh... the MAGIC BULLET!

Yea so what's your point? Gun's were cheap?

And could be ordered by anyone right through a mail order catalog.

Yea so now we have the net The only thing different you can't wipe your butt with the net.

Knew of a case of powder delivered and handed to a young man who was not old enough to order it. Surprise! No harm came of it. But then he was raised with its proper use.

Go back in time enough and see what the sears catalog offered.
It is a disappointing anniversary year for sure as marking a loss of innocence of sorts.

That was 50 years ago, what is your point?

You are absolutely right Worldtalker. That was fifty years ago. So long ago that it is not relevant to today. Hmmm, when was the second amendment written again? May by best not to play the age card...

2nd is right written into constitution, not a sears catalog. Bible was written a lot longer ago is it no longer valid?

Freedom of speech was written at same time is it no longer valid either?

Good LORD the hostility.

The guy was just pointing out a historic event that involved a firearm.
An event that whether good or evil, shaped the world as we know it.
And it also helped bring about the about the end of mail order firearms, so it is in fact historically significant in other ways.
I find it interesting.

The bible was written and rewritten, and then re written again, if we want to go back to the old testament we better stop eating shrimp and pork ribs, and wearing spandex when bike riding, if we want to believe in the new testament, we better start doing what Jesus said. Your call.

Probably best if we avoid the written history of the bible.

TH: my reply did not say the 2nd was invalid. It was simply a reply to the age card. You know I support the second and the first. Besides, validity is a research term. The constitution is way above the scrutiny of common researchers. Its endurance alone is a testimony to that.

The original post may be in regards to not learning from history but being doomed to repeat it.

Couple of months ago some goof stole his mothers so called assault weapon / You were told Oswald bought it Glad you believe it. John Wilkes Booth traded his front row tickets to get his gun.... Ripleys
