Relax, it's not a landmine. Looks like the decorative piece from the top or bottom of a lamp.
Don't know that anyone planted landmines in the UK for any reason, but I'm not expert.

The only thing that makes me think it could be is where the base has corroded away it looks full of some type of powderish stuff also the small hole in the side there is some sort of filling in there. Cheers for your answers. HH Lee

I agree with the idea proposed by OldNBroken, that it is probably the base to an oil lamp. :icon_thumright: Photo's of this style of lamps can be found on ebay, here is a similar example that I found for your reference. These lamps typically date from the 1920's - 1940's and were very cheaply made.

That is neither a mine nor a filter for a gasmask. I didnt know what it is, but ive never seen decorated mines or gasfilters. OldNBroken and Antiquarian will be right. Could be a rock oil bowl with the filler neck.

So ill be safe to clean it up and remove the crusty filling inside? I have had it in a bucket of water just incase! It is about the same size as a few mines ive seen but i guess its pretty strange to have one around my way. Cheers ppl! HH Lee

Water would not help....Mines are build for staying a long time in harsh conditions. If it were one, the fuze on top is missing. So what....
Clean it up carefully and enjoy! Metal looks like brass or copper also, ife seen mines from wood, glass, steel, but never brass. Hey, have a look on this bouncing betty which is staying in the woods like it was some 60 years ago...
