Today I dug a cash of old coins

I went to a park I havent gone to in a while close to home it had lots of activity back in the day of a camp from folks would come up from NYC and get some fresh air and relax.
Today again I had the Explorer XS its really sold detector. At the park Years back poped out a few Wheat Cents and Mercury Dime. Today I decided to detect along the lake edge with a few signals of trash nothing else to show. I came to a spot and poped out Wheat Cent decent depth 6 inches they just started flowing I could not move the detector with out it singing out in this area was a little bit of trash. The coins were all burried in roots and the ground has frozen over a few spots it made digging a challenge. I packed it up before it gets dark and in the near future I will be back there different machine. Thinking a quick hunt didnt bother bring my phone more stuff I rather leave but when I go back I will be sure to take pictures. Thanks for looking HH Michael

Looks more like a big spill than a cache. A cache by definition is something that was buried on purpose and all coins would be in the same hole. Your find is way cool but likely just pocket spills from folks sitting at the lakeside.

To me, a spill implies an accidental spill of coins from a person. I've never heard of a spill that included 24 wheats, a nickel, and 5 silver dimes. On the flip side, a cache is something that general implies purpose, and it doesn't make sense to purposely put these at the edge of a lake. Maybe a kid hid them!?!? Either way, I think the OP should be free to call this one whatever he wants. I call it AWESOME! Congrats.

At the edge of a lake, a cache would not likely stay in the same hole over time, unless they were buried extremely deep. Water and soil will be moving.

Thank you I appericate kind comment, I was not that discriptive of the area the coins were found but it was all in one spot 12 foot dimater slight incline behind a small tree NONE were found above this small tree.
