Waiting to be whipped iz the most uninteresting period of booyhood life.

There are but few men that have character enough to lead a life of idleness.

My son, observe the postage stamp! its usefulness depends upon its ability to stick to one thing until it gets there.

In the whole of history of the world there is but one thing that money can not buy - the wag of a dogs tail.

Nature never makes any blunders; when she makes a fool she means it.

Waiting to be punished is usually worse than the punishment

Well I never heard of the guy, but he had a perfect description of tcim.

The trouble with most folks isn't so much there ignorance, as knowing so many things that ain't so.

Laughing is the sensation of feeling good all over, and showing it principally in one spot.

When a man comes to me for advice, I find out the kind of advice he wants, and I give it to him.

Politeness looks well in every man, except the undertaker.

All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.

The holy passion of Friendship is of so sweet and steady and loyal and enduring a nature that it will last through a whole lifetime, if not ask to lend money.

It is not best that we should all think alike; it is differences of opinion that make horseraces.

As to the adjective, when in doubt, strike it out.

One of the striking differences between a cat and a lie is that the cat has only nine lives.

Be good and you will be lonesome.

There are several good protections against temptation, but the surest is cowardice.

There isn't a Parallel of Latitude but thinks it would have been the Equator if it had its rights.

Grief can take care of itself, but to get full value of a joy you must have somebody to devide it with.

Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it.

You can straighten a worm, but the crook is in him and only waiting.

When we remember that we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained.

My books are water: those of the great geniuses are wine. Everybody drinks water.

Youre just jealous spart because i understand each and every one at first glance:tongue3:

It's apparent that some are just a little better versed in English, so I'm far from jealous.. It's impossible to make sense of something if the wrong words are used :laughing7:

Spart, some of these guys go way back. I know Clemons goes back to the 1800's My listings go back to 1455. Grammar, spelling and the meanings of words have changed. I show them as in the original form with no corrections. I hope the Mods don't censor them. frankhand print-2_edited-5.jpg

Again, few read the word and even realized the wrong word was injected. The word I'm talking about originated back in 1100, preceding and of the fore mentioned yokels.
