Tips for Beach Hunting for 1st Timer

For starters, I am relatively new to detecting being at it for about a month now. In 2 weeks I am planning a trip up to the Indiana dunes on Lake Michigan to do some beach hunting with a friend. I am going to be using a Minelab Sovereign and she will be using my Garrett Ace 250.

Does anybody have any tips that I could use for beach hunting? Any techniques, things to look for, extra tools I may need?
