I purchased a deepseeker with several coils from a local city utility auction. I did find a manual online but sometimes there are things the manual dosen't tell you, it seems to work ok so I would like any help with tuning, using this detector. It looks like the ADS or Grand ADS but it is the originalhttps://www.google.com/search?hl=en...&sa=X&ei=6zF9UJaQOc_H0AGIyIGAAQ&ved=0CB4QBSgA model that uses 6 x 9 volt battteries.
The unit came with 3 coils, the standard coil and a larger 11-12" coil and a smaller garrett dual loop coil that doesn't fit, the smaller coil is around 6" and looks to have smaller loop about 3" inside, it says " Garrett discriminator " . It dosen't fit the deepseeker because it has a 3 pin plug (deepseeker coils are 4 pin), does anyone know what model coil fits?

If I am not mistaken the smaller coil fits the Ground Hog. These old detectors are now rare but still work well.

My Groundhog has the 4 pin connector, 15mhtz coil.
You have to make sure the coil is the same mhz as the unit.
The prongs could be the same, but operates differently.
Mine is the Groundhog series ( master hunter), dials and gauge on top,and has a 3 position toggle switch in handle, not the button.
15mhz, co-planer coil,7.5 inch.

Here is a link to the 1978 catalog, you can download for free.
Top right hand corner.

Some good reading and info.

Plus, do a search for Groundhog in this Garrett thread, or section. There are 2 threads about the groundhog, and older MD.

The detector came with a extra Garrett coil that dosen't fit the deepseeker, I was trying to find out what model it fits. It.s a coil inside of a coil 8" with 4" inside and just says Garrett discriminator, has a 3 prong metal plug where the deepseekers have a 4 pin plug.

chuckn..- I am just in the 'learning' stages here but that last coil in question kind of sounds like a earlier 'BFO' coil? is the inner coil that is smaller to the frontward edge of the outer one? Go to the website posted above and look at the pic's of the BFO.
