Tip jar hunting?

I've looked, every chance I get , but have yet to find any keepers.

Good to see you back Immy; Happy New Year

pulled a red seal 2$ bill out 2 months ago.. put 2 one dollar bills in:)hahah

I pulled a silver Roosie out of a tip jar a couple months ago at a Smashburger! Gave them a buck in exchange. I saw that silver sheen from about 20 feet away while waiting in line.

Happy New Year Immy,

Good to see one of the forum "old timers" checking in.

I swap out wheaties for zincolns from the "take a penny/leave a penny trays" by cash registers pretty frequently...get some strange looks from cashiers. Never got into the tip jar for a swap out yet.

I saw a wheat penny in one of those locked charity boxes.............and no I didn't pick the lock! Though I did think about it!

Hey Immy, how you doing?
Still hitting the casinos or have they all gone to paper?

Hey Immy, long time. I check out the tip jar at Dunkin Donuts. Found 1 or 2 war nickels and a couple wheaties doing that.

The sad fact is, I'm starting to get those "old timer" qualities. Dates on coins juuust aren't as easy to read as they used to be. HNY to you too Capt!

If they aren't going paper, they're closing down. One of my longtime haunts, and the last Vegas casino to have penny slots, closes in 10 days. :-[

We're pretty recession-ed out here. I'm doing ok, but at least a half dozen people I know who made 2x and 3x my salary have losts their homes. This vid puts it in perspective:

I was out there when The Sahara shut down. Now it's the Western. Only a matter of time before Hooters goes under too.

I pulled a 1929-S wheatie from the tip jar at a Starbucks and replaced it with a dime. I always check the jars :)

I do it with the take - a penny - leave - a - penny jar, but I haven't tries a tip jar. Nice pick up

I'd never consider taking from the tip jar. That's the property of the employees. Taking from the jar is theft. Would you go through their purses or wallets?

You ask if you could exchange one for another, we're not going behind the employees backs.

Of course not! I'd ask if they had any wheaties first. Bazinga!

Seriously though, I replaced what I took. No harm, no foul.
