Dug this very small ring. Possibly a little girls ring and it's stamped "925" and "EVA" inside the band. It was in a old homestead field where large cents were dug but I don't know if it's as old as the coins. I dropped it taking the pictures and the back of the band separated a bit as you can see in the second picture! :(

Nice little ring ! I initially was thinking the ring might be 1920's -40's stylistically - but re- reading your post I noticed you said it's marked 925
this is to my mind a later designation - 60's and later .

I may be wrong but didn't the older rings join in the back of the band and newer rings the band was one solid band?

He was using the hallmark to date it. Older stuff is usually marked sterling I believe.

As to the separation, solder gave. When soldered properly it looks solid. Possibly resized but not likely.

As to the break in the shank - It's not uncommon at all for these to break due to freezing - ground packs into the shank , when frozen
the expansion causes the break - I've found a number of them like that . Regarding the dating I am only giving my guess based on
close to 45 years of collecting vintage and contemporary jewelry - however it is possible that 925 has been used earlier than I am
aware of .

Sweet silver !

nice silver save ..:occasion14:

Nice silver ring! Congrats!

I read that before 1970 something that they used to use a dot before the .925 then dropped it to just the 925. I will have to look if it has the dot. The age doesn't matter to me anyway that much and thanks for the info guys. (:
