Howdy. I eyeballed a tiny red glass bead while working a cornfield in northern Illinois yesterday. I am in Chief Shabbona territory. I know he and his tribe made it through the area but, I have never found many beads or tried to research them. This one looks like glass under my Opti Vision jeweler's loup thingy. What do ya' think? I really like it as I do all my eyeball finds. Thanks for any input. Kurios1 010.webp

Thanks mate. As a 55 year old I am still fascinated as a child about simple things especially relating to our culture and history. Under magnification this bead appears to be glass as it shows some cracking. It looks too "rough" in appearance to be manufactured by some machine. My eyeball finds take a special spot in my heart. At my age it's nice to know my peepers are still working.:icon_cyclops_ani:

I too enjoy finding beads and points. Could be a trade bead?

I think there's some guys over on the North American Indian Artifact forum that collect beads. Great forum.
