Despite a long warm spring, detecting hasn't produced anything but clad and junk rings. But today my Xterra sniffed out my first gold of the season and the smallest piece of gold I have ever found with this detector. It was buried just below the grass, and gave off a weak signal that sounded like either a dime on end or a very deep quarter, so I was surprised when I flipped over my plug and found this tiny piece sitting there. I dug a deeper hole and went over the area with my detector hoping that the chain that it went with was there somewhere, but no luck.
No markings, but its got beautiful color and a nice weight to it so I was pretty sure it was high karat gold. My tester only goes to 18k and it hit that, but just based on the color and heavy for its size weight of 1.0 grams, I am betting it will end up being my third piece of 23k Thai gold.
