Here's an Eureka lock on ebay. Probably not as old as yours as the one on ebay also show Eagle lock.

Any signatures on the cupid?

Here's a cupid with signature by Louis Priou. He did do a few cupids.

Does not look like the same guy though.

On the print does that say MARIAGE? French for MARRIAGE which shows on the frame.

I can't make out the rest of the wording on the print. Do you think it's a translation to the Closed On Account of Marriage?

Maybe it is the same. Look at the toes. Perhaps, as he became more well known he dropped the Louis for an L and got a little more fancy on the signature.

I'm fairly sure that the frame was not part of his art.

Louis Priou was born in 1845 and date of death unknown.

The lock certainly fits in that time period. You might just have something there with the print. I suggest you show it to an art dealer.

I'm thinking someone other than he took the print and added the frame and translation. Unless he was a starving artist and was selling them to tourist that were visiting France.

Hope it is the same guy.
