Tiny engineering genius

It's amazing to me that a tiny little insect can jump off a tree, swing across to another tree, then back again, and then somehow hang off these tiny ropes between the trees, at a height thousands of times its own height, and weave complex symmetric patterns in midair, all without benefit of formal schooling or an engineering degree. This little marvel was about eight feet up, and a bit smaller than a dinner plate, glistening in the morning sun.

I only saw it this morning when going out to feed the chickens. So overnight, probably. But I have stood and watched them building webs before, and they go up surprisingly quickly.

He's also learned to raise them a couple of feet. I usually find them with my face at about 6'😫

I normally only encounter the ones about six foot off the ground and located in the center of the path I'm walking on. Nothing like a web to the face.
