Hey VW i know i have used rechargeable batteries in my other detector discovery 3300 and it made the machine go wacky ! So i put alkalines back in & it was fine.

I only use rechargeables in just about everything. Its more economical and doesnt full the landfills with a bunch of leaky, disposable batteries. Im using 2 -9volt recgaregeables in my detector rated at 230 mahs.....and they are working fine....

I use rechargeables all the time as well (in a Discovery 3300 also), with no problems. You might want to make sure the voltage is higher than the run-of-the-mill ones you find. The typical 9v nimh has 8.4 volts or so, mine deliver 9v, but the best run at 9.6v (which is what an alkaline 9v runs at).
