I have a time ranger and it won't stay on.. It stay on if I hold the power button as soon as released it goes off.. If I disconnect the coil it will stay on then if I connect it then it works.. As soon as I turn it off and back on again (with the coil attatched)it does the same thing, only stays on while the power button is held..Same with both coils.. Less than 20 hours on it.. Never abused.. Worked fine last april stored in the case in my room without batteries.. Warrenty was up in may... Seems like it knew it and decided to crap out on me.. Any idea? Tried the email and no response.. Just tryed again and it won't stay on either way now...

Hmmmm, same as bountyhunter service NO RESPONSE!!!

Call BH First Texas and ask for Maggie Lazo; she'll head you in the right direction. You're wasting time sending e-mails; I speak from experience. But a phone call usually does it. Good Luck

Called today and spoke with a very nice lady, and even after I told her the warranty was up told me to ship it to the repair department... Guess we'll see what happens...

I sent it out on 1/20 and received it TODAY!!!!! They received the 23rd in nine days they repaired it and sent it back!!!All I can say is WOW :o!!! They sent a note saying they replaced the mother board and tuned the standard coil. They also gave it a thorough testing.. I was checking it out when I noticed the coil cover was missing? They sent me a NEW COIL!!!!! No charge at all and its been out of warranty since may.. I do think Bounty hunter gets a bad rap for producing low end detectors.. This Time Ranger isn't one of them!!!
Thanks First Texas !!! (Veronica Castro)
HELL YA!!!!

I just now seen this post my first time ranger had 2 -c cell batterys in side the bat compartment and the wire just broke off inside the unit . I sent it back on the warranty and they sent me a brand new one in approx 3 weeks . I received the new one and it turned on and I took it out side and it worked differently than the first one it had the buttons on the front that were raised and the speaker was much louder on the new one and it worked completely diferent than the first it did work much better but after a couple of days it too shut off i unplugged the coil wire and it would come on and stay on i found the coil had a short in the wire where it goes inside the coil and i had to wiggle it around to get it to stay on but it kept turning off sent it back and they sent a new unit again . This time it works great texas instruments called me and asked me how it was turning off i explained it and they were great . I really like the time ranger's functions its a great detector. thanks bounty hunter
