I've been wondering how long the field on my Grandfather's old farm was inhabited. I have found points and tools from the Historic period, Woodland period, and the Archaic period. I'm not sure if there are any artifacts from the Paleo period. The points in the first pic came from that field and resemble some points that were described as Paleo in a couple of reference books that I have. Does anyone have any ideas on the points in the first pic? They look like the were resharpened at one time.
The points in the second pic were found in the same field, but are from the Woodland and Archaic periods. I think I've posted the ones in the second pic before. Sorry for the repeat.

Thanks for looking!

Nice,I myself have often wondered that, the site i started hunting this fall i have found late archaic peices and adena and what some call hopewell. And you would think the later cultures would have seen older peices lying about and used them, who knows its a mystery if any of that made sence.

Hey Adena!
You might be on a paleo site there. Those in the top pic look like they could be from paleo, at very least Early Archaic. But that bottom point in the top pic looks like some paleo Lanceolate points i have pulled from the field that never fails! If you're finding both Woodland and Archaic piece there is a good chance that spot has been in use for a long time. I'd keep my eyes out for some Clovis, Agate Basin, or some Daltons.

Let us know what you find!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my to flints.

Thanks for the posts! I am going to contact the landowner tonight to see of he has plowed yet. Seeing everybody's new finds has got me "geeked up". I can't wait to walk the field.

Good luck!

I would agree that the bottom two in the top picture are paleo, the white one I am almost sure is a scottsbluff variant and I don't know about a name for the other but certainly looks paleo. Also some great looking early archaic in the next pic...that is a great field you have there!!!
