I'm looking to buy another beach detector in about a month. I've been using a Sand Shark for about 8 months now and plan on keeping it, but I plan on doing some fresh water hunting this year also. I saw this section on the forum and thought I'd throw this out there. Obviously there is the price difference and the warranty difference.......but I'm looking for some input from experienced users that have used both detectors possibly. Reading what I can find on the internet, the TS performs really well and has the sensitivity to small gold, but I've been really wanting to pull the trigger on the Excal. Just wondering what the drop off would be and should I spend the extra money? Thanks for input. Learning curve is not an issue, I'm willing to put the time in.

In FRESHWATER, the Tiger Shark is equal to the Excalibur in every way. In SALTWATER, the multi-frequency Excalibur is the machine to have out of the two.

I've used both and a few others too. The Excal has one advantage over the Tiger Shark in fresh or saltwater. The Excal does not mask a good target when the other one that is disc out doesn't respond. In other words the Excal will sound off on a good target under a iron target above it. The TS can't do this.

I just got a Tiger Shark. I'll dig both targets, just to be safe.

You got that right Sandman. I hope others listen to you.. How have you been lately?

Yep, I have found gold where I was also getting a null from one direction, switch directions and got solid signal, gold ring in scoop with piece of iron when I recovered it....

Hi Larry, I am fine but still going to dialysis. You guys should stop using salt as it kills the kidneys.

Thanks for the advice Dennis, you may have just added some time to my life....

Larry, I just got out of hospital from having a minnie stroke. I am not FUBAR'ed but close. Weak as a kitten from all that laying in bed and have low blood pressure now.

Too bad Dennis, not much I can say except that you are a good source of advice on here and not a bad moderator either. Listen to the Doc my friend, and stick around a lot longer, some of these people on here will still need your input, my old self included. It's wintertime anyway, so rest so that you can get a fresh start for summer again. Larry

I bet you still have Gold running thur those viens!!

Maybe that is what is slowing me down. I hope to collect more when the ice is off the lakes. I can't believe I used to dive under the ice to bring up sunken snowmobiles. Now I freeze in a draft.

Just to get back on the question that was asked I have both and the TS definitely has the advantage of finding smaller gold but both are great. The BHID from Whites is a great water machine even though Sandman can't hold the coil underwater I have not noticed it to be a problem and the 12" coil covers a lot of ground. Any of the three are great!
