The temps finally got back up around 40 on Thursday so I went out to do a slip and slide thru the really muddy fields. The top couple of inches were like mush and under that it was frozen solid but I still managed one nice Point, a couple of crudely made Dart Points, a Hammerstone, and some Tools.

I've only hunted this place twice and the field is huge so I am just now starting to find the hot spots. There are two areas that rise up a little in the middle of the field and both are really dark soil and everything I have found so far has come from these spots. Both spots also have lots of broken up creek rock in them. He only had half of it plowed so I am curious what the other side closer to the creek might have in it.

I didn't get any in situs because I thought the camera was in my truck but it wasn't.

Good to see someone can still get out. We are a few months away from seeing any mud yet.

Nice points that was a great hunt ;)

I know you were glad to get out with the weather you guys have had. Nice finds to start another good year.

Good finds Grim:icon_thumleft:, I have another 18 days before hunting season is over and then I can hit it hard. We have had some real hard rains, so I know all the trash has been moved out of the creek beds and the fields are all washed down. I could walk some fields but until hunting season is done, I get a itch or a funny feeling that someone has the cross hair's on me just to look at me.

That 1 nice black point would of made the whole trip for me if I had found it, nice hunt

Yes that black point may be a "Beacon Island" - A small to large size triangular point with a bulbous stem. Shoulders are usually well defined and can be barbed. Found in Eastern Central or EC (page 418) in the 13th edition Overstreet ID & Price Guide.(jmo)

No Beacon Islands in my area. It is a Woodland type and Hopewell associated.

Those are nice. I really like the black point.

That sure is an awesome point in your second photo! :icon_thumleft: Sure is a pretty one!
